Iceland travel tips (from a kid's point of view!)

ICELAND FAMILY TRAVEL TIPS

  • Stay at least five days
  • If you are only there for five days, stick to just one region (like the South Coast)
  • Go in the fall-spring to see the Northern Lights (but not a lot of daylight)
  • Go in the summer for Midnight Sun and make the most of your long days
  • Bring waterproof hiking boots and rain gear (including rain pants)
  • Book hotels 6+ months in advance
  • You may need to plan on getting two rooms to fit a family
  • Bring your credit card with a chip and know your pin number
  • Rent a mifi device to create a mobile hotspot
  • Use Google Maps to figure out driving distances but check ahead because some roads are closed except in summer

TIP OF THE WEEK

When traveling internationally, a MiFi device like ones from Tep Wireless let you create a mobile hotspot so you can use your phone for GPS and everyone can get internet access. They mail you the unit and when you get back you ship it back.

Where did you rent your midi device from? We’re travelling from Montreal to Florida this summer by plane, but will have a rental car to drive the gold and space coasts. Would be handy to have wifi while on the road for streaming music etc instead of using our data plans…
Love the show! Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you so much Sandy! I rented the Mifi through the car rental company, so that may be something to look into. However, Kim has also used Tep Wireless on her trip to Israel. You can order it through their website and then ship it back when you are done.
